Our Ontario Forest Eco Lodge Is All about Sustainability in Hospitality

Outdoor enthusiasts won’t find a much better setup than the Algonquin Eco-Lodge. Located on the southern border of Algonquin Park (only three hours from Toronto or Ottawa), our forest eco-lodge gives guests unapparelled access to all the Algonquin area has to offer. During the winter months, our guests enjoy cross country skiing, dog sledding, and snowshoeing. When it warms up, our forest eco-lodge, which has one of the largest single trail systems in Southern Ontario, becomes a mecca for hikers. Like all true outdoor lovers, we aim to preserve the nature that we enjoy so thoroughly year after year, which is why we prioritize sustainability in hospitality.

Surrounded by Nature

At Algonquin Eco Lodge, we believe in being minimally intrusive to our natural environment. Our European mountain-style lodge is one of the most secluded lodges or hotels in Algonquin Park. To reach our front door, guests enjoy a leisure 2.3-kilometre walk through nature. Our remote stretch of the Algonquin Park forest is as isolated as it gets. You won’t find telephone poles or hydro lines, just row after row of trees.

Sustainable Practices

Due to our remote location, we’ve adopted green energy production alternatives to produce 100 percent of our electricity off-grid. We use 100 percent micro-hydro electricity created from waterfalls to power our forest eco-lodge. Our micro-hydro electricity production is so efficient that it powers our 17 private rooms, an outdoor wood-fired sauna, and a carbon-neutral hot tub (the only one in southern Ontario). Our sustainable practices earned us the Ontario Tourism Sustainable Tourism Award in 2012!

If you’re a nature lover who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, our forest eco-lodge provides a sustainable way to do just that. Take a break from technology and immerse yourself in the sheer beauty that is the Algonquin Park forest. For more information on our eco practices or to book your stay, head to our website.
