This working holiday is ideal for people who would like a short stay in Algonquin Park, and who also want to help contribute to preserving the wilderness setting of the Algonquin Eco-Lodge.
Available throughout the summer, this program is aimed at people who want a real wilderness experience while contributing to the maintenance of the beautiful surrounding forests and the upkeep of the Eco-Lodge.
Typical projects may include:
- Trail Grooming
- Stacking Firewood
- Clearing out overgrown streams
- Landscaping, grass cutting, flower bed maintenance, tree pruning, etc.
- Painting
- Repairing Buildings (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
- Repairing roads, digging ditches, moving rocks
- Trail Bridge Building
- General help with lodge operations (cooking, clearing tables after meals, etc.)
- Washing dishes
We can try to tailor some of the projects to your particular skill set. If you do not have a lot of physical strength then we can use you for grass cutting, interior decorating, planting flower gardens, or any other ways you can think to improve the area and building.
In return for about 4 hours of work each day, we will give you a 40% discount at the Eco-Lodge. The rest of the day is yours to do as you see fit. Make use of our free canoes on our private lake, go fishing, go swimming, go for a hike on our 60km of trails (that you helped groom), or just hang out on our deck and read a book.
Price: 40% discount off of normal season rates, with meals included.
Dates Available (3 night minimum): mid-week May – October
