Digital Detox Getaways in Algonquin Park
In our modern world of “instant connectedness” it is more and more common for our personal lives to intermingle with our work lives. It is all too easy to “just check in” with the office. Next thing you know you are responding to an email, working on a document, or tweaking a spreadsheet. Whatever it is, you are not fully relaxing and enjoying your time “off”.
At the Algonquin Eco-Lodge you will be completely off-grid, off the radar, and off work hours! Your Digital Detox getaway means that instead of compulsively checking your email, you can check your fishing line. Instead of worrying about your Facebook status you can worry about your tan line status. And instead of playing Angry Birds™ on your smartphone by yourself while your spouse sits bored alone you can play a board game together!
The Eco-Lodge is set deep in the forests of the southern part of Algonquin Park. It is so remote that there are no hydro lines, telephone lines, or even cell service. There are no TV’s in the rooms, no Nintendo, and no internet. What we do have is an abundance of nature and wilderness.
There is a myriad of activities to entertain yourself while at the Eco-Lodge. During the summer you can take a half day canoe trip, and a picnic, up to High Falls. You can go for a hike to Grandview Lookout, try your luck fishing on Little Mink Lake, go horseback riding, or just relax on the waterfront deck. Swimming in our private lake is a great way to cool off and relax. No jetskis, no motorboats, and no radios!
In the evening our guests, from around the world, often play board games that you are free to join in, or sit around the bonfire. The staff are happy to supply marshmallows, and also lead the group in a wolf howl!
Winter brings a new set of fun activities. Spend your day cross country skiing on our 40 km of groomed track set trails. Go snowshoeing on one of our three dedicated snowshoe trails, or simply head of in a random direction and try “bushwhacking”! Yes, we can rent you a GPS! Dog sledding is another popular activity – something that should be on your “bucket list”.
Summer or winter, after a day of adventure (or relaxation), you can have a soak in the “carbon neutral” hot tub or the wood-fired sauna. All the while enjoying the peace and serenity of Algonquin Park!
