The Ultimate Wintertime Couples Resort in Algonquin Park

Hidden along the southern rim of picturesque Algonquin Park lies a four-season haven that’s so far off the beaten path that it requires a 2.3-kilometre trek through the woods en route to the property’s front door. As autumn fades and winter approaches, countless couples from the Greater Toronto Area begin to brainstorm creative ways to seek romance during the frostiest season of the year. Luckily, Algonquin Eco-Lodge, the ultimate wintertime couples resort in Algonquin Park, is a mere two-hour drive from Toronto’s northerly neighbourhoods. Algonquin Eco-Lodge provides a playful, passionate, and uninhibited alternative to your prototypical resort-like experience, thanks to its remote locale, intimate adventures, and European mountain lodge charm.

Unique, Tranquil Wintertime Adventures

We wouldn’t be considered the premier couples resort in Algonquin Park without offering a fully customizable experience, complete with a bevy of outdoor pursuits, three meals daily, and distinctly rustic overnight accommodations. Couples have complimentary access to over 60 kilometres of groomed cross-country skiing trails, as well as seemingly endless forestry, aching to welcome eager snowshoers. “The Path of the Snow Walker” is a new package geared toward adventurous couples in search of sheer tranquillity amid one of the densest forests in the province. Algonquin Park’s southern terrain is home to many woodland critters, mainly white-tailed deer. But you’ll also likely stumble across wolf tracks, made by our resident pack. Fear not: These wolves are well-fed by the local fauna. We also partner with a nearby kennel in Maynooth, home to Southern Ontario’s wildest dog sledding tours.

Life at the Eco-Lodge

In a normal year, the Eco-Lodge would welcome up to 34 guests per day. However, during the times of COVID-19, we’ve whittled our capacity down to 16 people. While we’d love to see as many of your beautiful faces as possible on any given day, it’s important to remain safe and socially distanced at all times. The only good news about the new capacity is that couples will gain even more solitude at our eco-friendly Algonquin “hotel.” Lovebirds will be happy to hear that our carbon-neutral outdoor hot tub and wood-fired sauna see much less foot traffic these days. Meaning: more time in the heat for you and your partner! Couples are also urged to take a “polar bear dip” into our frozen lake. It’s an unforgettable, bucket list-esque experience that’s sure to be a talking point at dinner parties for many years to come.

A Secluded Couples Resort in Algonquin Park

The lodge itself is a spectacular place to wholly unplug—a “digital detox,” of sorts. There’s no Wi-Fi, no television, and no fancy gadgets. It’s just you, your significant other, and a comfortable bed, surrounded by rustic, woodsy craftsmanship. Start each morning with a stack of pancakes and a steaming cup of joe. Sandwiches are typically served at lunchtime, while dinner ranges from gourmet chicken to a hearty beef stew.
