Cross Country Skiing in Algonquin Park, Ontario, at the EcoLodge

Nordic Skiing Lodge in Algonquin Park

Algonquin Ecolodge has an amazing trail system for cross country skiing! We have over 60km of groomed and wilderness Nordic ski trails inside Algonquin Park, right from the front door of the EcoLodge. And after a day of cross country skiing on the EcoLodge's track set trails what better way to relax than in our outdoor hot tub or sauna, overlooking the forests of Algonquin Park?

Cross Country Skiing in Algonqion Park

The EcoLodge cross country trails are a mixture of wilderness trails and track set ski trails. The wilderness ski trails are groomed in the fall, but not track set, while our track set Nordic trails are single track. Sorry, no skate skiing trails. They are hilly, as Algonquin Park is a highlands area, and vary from some easy trails to some intermediate ski trails, and a few advanced Nordic ski trails.

Cross Country Skiing Trail Map

Our cross country ski trails are in a true wilderness setting. Since they are inside Algonquin Park, there are no snowmobiles, buildings, or any other signs of civilization. They pass through a mixture of forests - big strands of Birch, areas with a lot of Beech trees, with the tell tale scratch marks of bears having climbed them. There are several beaver ponds that you pass over or ski past. And there are a lot of white tailed deer in the area - you'll see their tracks all over the place. Since we have such a big deer population (we are in the midst of their "wintering grounds") we also have a resident wolf pack! It is not uncommon to see evidence of a lone wolf travelling along the ski trails. Tracks in the snow made the night before, or howls drifting across a beaver pond. And a few very luck cross country skiers have actually seen a wolf crossing our ski trails!

Cross country skiing at the Ecolodge is an experience you will look forward to repeating!
