Special Programs at the Eco-Lodge
These special programs can be done while you stay at the ecolodge. Some
must be arranged in advance and only run on certain dates, while others can be
run at any time.
- Canoe Paddle workshop
- a 1 day course where everything is supplied, and you end up with
your own, beautiful, hand built canoe paddle!
- Photo workshop - a special photography
course that teaches you how to take advantage of the special opportunities and
spectacular landscapes of winter, while overcoming its' unique hardships.
- Photo Safari by Dog Sled! - come join
us as we team up with an award winning professional photographer to provide you
an unforgettable experience! Enjoy the excitement of mushing a team of Huskies,
and get professional advice from a distinguished photojournalist.
- ORCA 2 course - an accredited Ontario
Recreational Canoe Association (ORCA) course for people wishing to get their
Level 2 (Trip Leader) level, and would be very useful for anyone who is, or
wants to become, a canoe guide.
- Wilderness 1st Aid - this 2 day course
will certify you in first aid, geared towards a wilderness environment. It is a
16 hour course that concentrates on the basics of packaging and transporting
patients and managing life and limb threats in remote environments.
- Eco-Volunteer - this is a working
holiday in which you donate 4 hours of your time each day in return for a 40%
discount.
- School Groups - Winter - a 4 day
winter program designed for school groups. It includes dog sledding, cross
country skiing, snowshoeing, a wolf howl program, and can also include a
session on winter survival techniques.
- School Groups - Summer - a 3 day
wilderness canoe trip in Algonquin Park.
