School Groups
- Lodge Based Summer Adventure Program -
A lodge based programs are a great way to introduce
students to a wilderness experience without the rigours of camping out. It also
allows us to offer a wider range of optional activities.

In addition to the optional activities listed below
students will be expected to organize themselves in small groups. Furthermore,
they will have to preplan the adventure by creating a meal plan, making a
budget, then shopping, preparing, and cooking their own meals. This stresses
planning, leadership, communication, and every day budgeting. It also keeps the
cost of the program down. The kitchen will be supervised by our staff.
The following activities are included:
- Canoeing - we will give basic paddling instructions on our
small lake, and then lead a guided half day canoe trip to High Falls. This is
an excellent introduction to canoeing. Along the way we can point out various
elements of the natural environment such as beaver lodges and dams, wild
flowers, and any animals we see (or their evidence).
- Hiking - a guided interpretative half day hike to a look out
point over looking a vast swath of Algonquin forest.
- Geocaching - try our small course and learn about the new
activity of geocaching. It's a combination of GPS use and a treasure hunt.
- Wolf Howl Program - learn about our local wolf pack, their
biology, history, and local biases, and then join in a howl.
- Bonfire
- Alternative Energy Production - tour of our Micro-Hydro
generator and learn how we create our own electricity.
These activities can be organized but do incur an additional cost:
- Compass Use - learn how to use a compass and a map in a
wilderness setting - $35/person
- Survival Skills - learn how to survive if you get lost in the
woods. Shelter building, fire starting, simple snares, navigation -
