supplies.
- Keeping lodge clean - once a day sweeping floors, cleaning
bathrooms.
- Dealing with tourists questions about the area, wildlife, etc.
- Lighting bonfires at night, and entertaining guests.
- When the Lodge is not busy it is expected that you will use your
initiative to do other jobs that constantly need doing, like painting, stacking
firewood, trail grooming, etc.
Qualifications:
These are the ideal qualities we are looking for, but if you can meet
most of them we can provide some "on the job" training for anything you don't
have.
- You must be friendly and "in a good mood" all the time.
- Basic First Aid & CPR.
- You must be highly adaptable and be able to "think on your
feet".
- You must be a decent cook.
- You must not be afraid to use tools and/or machines to fix things as
needed.
- You must make a commitment to work for July and August. Late June
till mid September would be preferred.
- You must have a valid drivers license and having your own vehicle is
an asset, though not required.
- Language skills would be an asset.
Benefits:
- We are on a private lake, surrounded by forests, so there are a lot
wildlife viewing opportunities.
- Animals in our immediate area include beavers, wolves, bears, hawks,
chipmunks, deer, moose, turtles, and many small species of birds including
hummingbirds.
- Nice lake for swimming, fishing, or canoeing during the day.
- Spend a summer in the Canadian wilderness!
- Meet people from all over the world.
- Your meals and accommodations are included.
A schedule will be worked out so that you get a day or two off every
week, and depending on our schedules you may be able to go on a canoe trip or
two.
There will also be an "Operations Assistant Manager" who is already
familiar with the operations of the lodge, so you will not be left completely
on your own with no one to turn to for help!
This job includes your meals and accommodations at the lodge, and you
will also be paid an agreed upon sum at the end of the summer.
