Are you ready to enjoy an exhilarating weekend full of cross country skiing and fitness fun, away from laptops, e-mail and cell-phones? Call Of The Wild and Algonquin Wilderness Eco-Lodge present a programme packed with healthy eating, stretching classes to loosen up your mind and body, and discussions. The programme is intended to help participants understand the full benefits of exercise, diet, and healthy living. Then we will head outdoors into the wilderness where we will be given a set of obstacles that will challenge any group. Imagine taking part in team scavenger hunts and team relay races while you cross country ski on fully groomed trails in the fresh air of Algonquin Park.

Throughout the day, we will take breaks and enjoy short interactive educational sessions on nutrition and the popular 'diets' out on the market today. Before we hit the trails again, we will warm up by participating in a brief stretching session.

You will take part in hands-on educational exercise seminars. We will teach safe and challenging muscle strengthening techniques using a resistance band. Also, we will learn effective back strengthening exercises to help common back discomfort. Once you have learned these movements safely, the resistance band is yours to take home, along with comprehensive instructions on the exercises. You now have your very own exercise programme that you can do at home or when travelling!

Rested and refreshed Sunday morning, enjoy a healthy breakfast before heading outside for our team relay races. Laugh and cheer your team mates on as you participate in different group challenges all done on skis!

Our fun but relaxing fitness weekend will ensure that you strengthen your mind and body as well as intensifying your relationships with your team mates and building new friendships. All the while soaking up the beautiful environment of the Algonquin area and feeling exhilarated by the fresh air. Escape the stress of work and home when you attend our Fun With Fitness weekends.

This package is a unique combination of fitness, learning, and fun. A Professional Kinesiologist and Personal Trainer will teach the programme. The package will not be an usual cross country ski outing. While we do use cross country skis as our mode of transportation, we combine skiing with discussions on healthy living, and activities such as scavenger hunts and relay races. Participants will remain active through exercise, learn safe and healthy lifestyle habits, and, at the same time, they will also build and strengthen relationships with others in the group. All the while, our facilitator will be talking about the correct way to exercise, which muscle groups are working, and ensuring that the entire experience is fun.

If you or your group is interested in getting lots of fresh air, learning new exercises and participating with friends or other individuals, then our Fun with Fitness Weekend is for you. The programme is ideal for groups from the workplace, members of sports clubs such as fitness, hiking, cycling, tennis, etc., individuals who may be looking for a different kind of challenge in the winter, or someone who wants to begin to live a healthier lifestyle. This is a great way to begin an exercise program and learn more about fitness.

All meals are included in this package, beginning with lunch on day one and ending with lunch on day 3. We have engaged the services of a highly respected chef from one of the finest restaurants in Canada. She will create healthy meals that are deliciously Canadiana, as well as meals that will cater to our overseas clients who might prefer a more traditional meal. Vegetarian meals are available upon request.

Our Facilitator

Our facilitator for this programme is a Certified Kinesiologist, Personal Trainer, and Ergonomist. She possesses an Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph and has worked one on one with private clients and with corporations. With the private clients, she works in their home, working on their fitness goals or rehabilitating any injuries they may have. With the corporate clients, she gives lectures and seminars on fitness, nutrition, and repetitive strain injuries, such as low back, neck, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
