Fishing at Algonquin Ecolodge

There are a few good fishing spots at the ecolodge, and in the nearby lakes and rivers. Our lake (Moffat Pond) has white sucker, brown bullhead, rock bass, pumpkinseed, and smallmouth bass. During the winter there have been some lake trout caught too!

The creek that runs out of our lake has brook trout and even muskie! It feeds into Little Mink Lake, which has been described as "the lake that time forgot". Years ago it was a very popular lake to fish, but it has all but been forgotten now. The native fish species are making a recovery, and it is a nice lake to fish once again. It has lake trout, brook trout, walleye, northern pike, and muskie.

Obviously, the fish will move from lake to creek to lake, depending on water levels and water temperatures. But, since there are 2 lakes, 2 creeks, and 1 river all within a 20 minute walk of the ecolodge, you have many possibilities to find that "secret fishing hole"!

For kids our lake is perfect for fishing! We have a lot of small fish that are easy to catch, providing hours of fishing fun for families. It is quite common to catch 8 or 9 fish in only half an hour! Obviously, this is all "catch and release" fishing. We have barbless hooks so that we encourage you to use.
